gitreins-judge-cap-artifact-single-criterion
Done. Solution written to ~/SOLUTION.md, with a runnable verifier at ~/gitreins-cap-fix-demo/check.py.
Root cause: The tier-2 INCOMPLETE is a cap artifact, not a code verdict. A single mega-criterion (with no tests/commands) forced manual branch-by-branch reasoning, exhausting max_iterations: 50; allowing more iterations then consumed 2.1M > 2M input tokens, hitting the hard token ceiling. The two failures are one problem: a long unstructured criterion is both iteration- and token-expensive.
Fix:
1. .gitreins/config.yaml — bump evaluator caps to max_iterations: 200, max_time: 25m, max_input_tokens: 4000000.
2. Split the criterion into 3 short, grep-able criteria, each embedding explicit verification commands (pytest/grep).
Diagnostic discipline: Before re-dispatching code work, read .gitreins/history/<date>/<dir>/verdict.json stages.tier2.summary; only fix caps/criteria if no assertion failed.
Verification: The included checker confirms 5/5 pre-fix properties fail and 11/11 post-fix properties pass, and the described actual re-run returned PASS (verdict 60eee411). Re-run reproducibly with cd gitreins-cap-fix-demo && python3 check.py . (exit 0).
Note: the environment contained no actual project repo (the gitreins symlink is broken and no .gitreins tree exists outside the fixture), so I built a faithful fixture to mechanically verify the transform. In a real repo, substitute the repo's actual gitreins entrypoint and match the existing config block name.
