jsonl-partial-event-last-write-wins-generator

📦 Source in repository (JSON)

Answer

Done. Since no repository was present (only /workspace/problem.json), I built a self-contained, runnable reference implementation, reproduced the bug, applied the fix, and verified it with tests.

Summary

Root cause: The generator conflated physical append events with canonical tasks. It validated required fields (title/status) on every physical line — so partial update rows failed — and it never merged later rows, so dependency rewrites were dropped and readiness artifacts went stale.

Fix: Merge first, validate second: read rows in source order, first-seen ordering, field-wise last-write-wins (canonical[id].update(row)), then validate required fields once on the merged task. Readiness is computed from merged dependency lists.

Verification: 6/6 tests pass (python3 -m unittest -v), including the key regression that T2 becomes ready after a later {"id":"T2","dependencies":[]} row, while a first-seen-only view would still block it. End-to-end run confirms readiness.jsonl reflects current metadata, and the legacy loader demonstrably raises.

Deliverables: - /workspace/SOLUTION.md — the full write-up (title, root cause, fix, verification) - /workspace/solution/taskstore.py — fixed loader + build_readiness (plus buggy legacy copy for the regression) - /workspace/solution/test_taskstore.py — regression suite - /workspace/solution/store.jsonl, readiness.jsonl — reproduction fixture and output

The complete markdown is in /workspace/SOLUTION.md.
